well, today i went out roller-blading with my sis and AJ,my mom's friend's 7-year-old son, around the beautiful parks of seng kang...
I enjoyed cruising around the lengths of slopes...then i looked down and a sudden thought occurred...
(just a BTW the way thing so this part wont be confusing;a few years back, one of my uncles,i think about around 18 to his early twenties then, wanted to introduce me to roller-hockey..(he was the same uncle who introduced me to roller-blading itself when i was much younger, perhaps teens then, but due to the generations he is considered my uncle...)anyway,i don't really play nowadays, but back when i just started out,i had to teach myself to work around without brakes...so naturally i removed the brakes from my casual pair of blade as practice whenever i bladed...in order to brake,i had to shift either the right or left set of wheels to a 90-degree angle behind the frontal leg which would be supporting you then....i didn't really mind,in fact,i like learning new skills(you know me;power-hungry)....So as i was saying, this was a way of braking that i got more acquainted to,and pretty much got use to braking this way.Its not a bad way of braking, but may wear-out the inner side of the wheels.
So back to my story.I was looking down at my wheels and i started to wonder how fast will the inner sides wear-out if i break very often at high speeds...i did, after all, swap the wheels inside-out before when the original inner sides were slightly more worn-out then the outer sides....(the advantage of having the inner side as big as possible is for faster speed when you sweep your wheels out-ward to push you forward...The advantage of having a longer outer side of the wheel is for increased grip when the leg is at an angle or sweeping, but this reduces speed as the other reduces grip...)Anyway,i prefer to increase speed because i want to move on to training my shifting of weight to channel speed into maneuverability...yup,so that was basically the info that occured as a sudden whilst i cruise along the slopes,it helps me think...:)
